Bastion have never been to Bastion Mews in Hereford which has left me feeling a bti disappointed. However, they do play some damn fine Bouncing Souls/Slapshot influenced old skool hardcore. I had a chat with my old pal Dan Bowden (singer) by email and he's what he had to say. Oh yeah, check their myspace...
www.myspace.com/bastionuk
(1) Bastion, why the name? Are you named after Bastion Mews in Hereford? In fact, have you ever been to the Dinosaur Market in Hereford?
Bowden: I've never been to the 'Ford Mr Postans... It would appear that Dan Bell was a sneaky fucker and managed to get us named after an X-Men villain - him and Iain love their comics - we were struggling to agree on a name for ages, and dan suggested Bastion - we all agreed it was the lesser of evils after such attempts as 'Matalan Slag' and 'Smartbomb'...
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bastion_(comics) It later transpired that he'd gone and sneaked more comic stuff past us, Bastion is a kind of mutant-hating villian who is determined to wipe out all the x-men. I still don't really like our name but we've had it over a year so will probably stick with it forever. (*I'd like to change it to 'Dandandavians' - rhyming with scandanavians - see answer to question 4)
(2) Who are your main influences then? Don't you think you'd sell more records if you looked and sounded like those cunts from Fall Out Boy?
Bowden: As I'm the 'singer' I guess I'd have to get more ginger and chubby to get the FOB look...what does Pete Wentz do other than pout? - I'd like to see Bell get involved with hair straighteners definitely. The obvious influences are probably Alkaline Trio, The Buzzcocks, Early Green Day - as Bell and Dave write a lot of our songs and they're really into stuff like that. Vocals-wise I probably look towards bands like Mclusky, The Bronx and Beastie Boys (Aglio el olio era) who shout more than sing, due to lack of any singing ability. We all listen to fair different stuff, so it's difficult to speak on behalf of everyone, but our sound does seem to be moving away from the poppier stuff due to the fact we can't harmonise for shit. Iain seems to more into hardcore/post-rock stuff and seems to be attempting to get the most dirgey fuzzbox noise he can. On a closer to home level, all the bands/promoters/friends who've helped and been nice to us, come to shows, bought cds/t-shirts and said anything nice about us - without these nice people we'd have probably packed it in long ago.
(3) I've seen you live and you're well fackin' lively, how do you go about preparing for gigs proper like? Any particularly favourite gigs you've played and why?
Bowden: We used to be statues on stage, but the nerves are finally subsiding! My favourite shows have been SAI Fest in Ireland when we toured with Heroic Doses - was actually a proper stage and we had loads of crazy irish kids with flags invading the stage, as well as a lady who had the appearance of a crack-whore. She did actually offer sexual favours for a free CD - this was rebuffed as: sex with crackwhore - negative 1000 pointsgive cd away for free - negative 10 points= what would Bastion be gaining, aside an STD and loss of dignity?Simple maths. Sorry for my Heroic Doses bumming, but playing their final ever show at the Fighting Cocks in kingston in Feb 2008 was amazing - best atmosphere of any show ever, was rammed and the other bands (Black tax and The Hijacks - best UK ska punk band) were ace - was great to be part of that day.
(4) Who's in Bastion? I notice you have Lee from old boyband 911 on drums, how did that come about?
The originators and brains are Dan Bell (Guitar) and Dave Reid/Lee 911 (Drums). Iain Buchanan was chosen for his rugged looks, and me for my IT and administration skills (I'm not joking). Dan and Iain are friends through Underfire Comics a Brighton independent publishing collective thing (insert website link plug here) and The rest of us met at University in Brighton. They've got the talent I just whore us about on the internet and suchlike... We're basically Dan, Dan, Dave and Iain.*
(5) The new songs on your myspace are sounding shithot. Do you plan to bring out a cd soon? Have you had any interest from any DIY labels?
Bowden: Thanks G! We recorded those with Dan Goudie in June (he did our last demo/ep Circa 1882 too) - He's a seriously talented chap and we're lucky to be recording with him again in November this year - we should be recording the rest of an album then, and a few tweaks here and there then we should have a 12 to 15 tracks ready for an album. We're hoping to release it through our friends Toby and Jon from Heroic Doses/Earth Dies Screaming/Serf Combat's label 'Home of the Brave Records' (link plug), not sure how that all works yet - but hopefully they'll be able to help us and give us some much needed advice! We're also hoping to do a 7" split with our friends in The Small Mercies who are also frickin' awesome. Dan Bell is being locked in a shed for the summer holidays to write our new songs as we speak.
(6) What's the punk scene like in Brighton these days? Any good local bands we should be looking out for?
Bowden: We're probably the wrong band to ask this kind of question, we're not the most sociable, and our fingers are not exactly on the pulse (probably should get out to more shows) But off the top of my head... The Blankheads (london/brighton) - snotty power punk in the lookout styleLos Mendozas (via mexico) - Wrestling based hardcore madnessThe North Pole - Spikey Indie punk - new band from ex/current hot damn/twofold types - seriously goodStrickland - ex random heroes rapid hardcore pop punkOffcuts - ridiculously spazzy hardcore/metal mess, songs about meat? Those Damn Owls - just started up, singalong melodic punk in rancid'y snuff'y vein, loads of potential and jolly nice chaps too.Toby is from brighton so add Earth Dies Screaming (Hendrix meets black flag ?!) and his newest band Serf Combat to that too.Sak-less Jack are also a great skate punk band who don't get the attention they deserve, from just down the coast although not technically Brighton.Lastly, CAUTIONHORSES - dunno if they're really punk - what is? but if you like Mclusky / Hot Snakes kinda stuff - superb band. + for DIY promoters its all about The New Wave of Cut and Paste, This ones for the Crew shows, Nothing to Prove records.
{7) Any of you chaps into football? Does ANYBODY like cricket? I mean, it's shite and the games go on for about 4 weeks.
I love football! Dave doesn't mind a kick-about, and Iain and Dan really don't care for it...Beach football is my current fave as I'm all about the overhead kicks on sand. Southend United are my team, although I'm more armchair than hooligan. Cricket? I don't think any of us are big fans no - we're not a particularly sporty band although I do like a game of badminton, and Daves into extreme sports stuff like kite surfing, as well as sitting on his boat eating spinach and shouting 'YARRRRRGH'. Brett Angell over the Angel who plays for Villa any day. Fact.
(8) The Daily Mail told me that EVERYONE in Brighton is ginger beer and that they love spending £16.50 on a pint, is this true?
I like ginger beer with whisky and lime on the rocks. Or even Tuaca - tuscan mule action. Great summer tipple my friend. Nobody loves spending that on a point, there's a few pubs in Brighton that are a little more reasonable but as a general rule it's frickin' expensive, though a great place to live. For bars, music, food, and just general niceness it's ace, I think Brighton only stocks the Guardian anyway so I didn't realise the Mail said that...
(9) Have you got any funny stories involving peni please? Erm, in the second year of Uni whilst living with my (still current) girlfriend (nay - fiance), after a night on the lash I sleepwalked and urinated all over her revision notes and text books the night before an exam. Drying piss-ridden statistics books at 4am with a hair dryer is not something I feel the need to repeat. Not sure if that's funny mind, not exactly a 'boys out the barracks' Alan Partridge moment...I also probably shouldn't share, but I 'nicked' myself whilst having a trim once. Ouch, but quite funny looking back on it - I was really frightened it would wither and fall off.
(10) Ever seen a cat's penis?
Probably - I must have seen at least 14 cats in my lifetime, aren't they meant to be barbed or something? Dan Bell probably has one pickled in formaldehyde in his living room, he's into weird stuff like that. erm also: www.murdochspace.com/bastionuk

Interview with Dog Company
Dog Company play the kind of classic country influenced punk rock that you were warned about. The feature ex members of the excellent Staggers so YOU KNOW they're gonna kick ass. Here's an interview with Joe Blow. Check their myspace and buy their cd NOW! http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=47895035
(1) First of all, how did 'Dog Company' come about?
Well, it started when two of the guys from The Staggers moved crosscountry and we were not playing much. I didn't wanna stop playing, so Matt and I found Kirk. That was around February 2004. Then about a year later, Myko joined the band as the lead guitar player. With Dog Company, I wanted something a little different and more political than The Staggers. Boom!! Ya got Dog Company!
(2) Have you ever had too much to drink and had some 'Dog Company' if you know what I'm talking about? ;-)
No sorry, not any "Friday Night" stories, I have been married way too long to remember if I did anyway.
(3) I love that video of yours on Youtube featuring the kids playing football (not soccer!) Where did you get that footage from? Are you big football fans at all?
My friend Joey Spector put that together. It’s him playing soccer, I mean football, when he was a kid. As far as sports go, I don’t watch them. I like watching baseball, but only if I’m actually at a game. Watching sports on TV is pretty boring, except UFC or Robbie Knievel jumping something.
(4) I hear you've got a new album out. What's the gist of it and where can people can it from?
We do have a new record called "Songs of Discontent." It’s mainly political, with songs ranging from the Iraq War, Sudanese Children, the commercialization of punk or just a perfect Saturday. It’s on Slab-O-Wax records and is available on Interpunk. com - both CD and Vinyl, 15 songs, 33 minutes of sheer punk rock fury.
(5) Haunted Town records are a decent record label, are you still with them? I ordered some stuff from them and thought they were first class. Ever had any issues with them at all? Are you working with any other labels as well?
We, meaning Dog Company, is not, but The Staggers still are. Soon, Haunted Town will be releasing old Riot Squad/Staggers stuff, some which has never been released. I don’t have a release date yet. Matt at Haunted Town is a really close friend of mine, I love the guy. I have never had any issues with him. I love that label because everything he puts out is first class, like you said, from the recording to the packaging. Matt really did a lot for The Staggers. Maybe someday we will get around to recording new material.
(6) The Staggers were absolutely awesome. I loved that 'Nazis in Hollywood' song, what's that about? Is it about everyone looking the same? Have you ever been to Hollywood?
I have never been to Hollywood, I would love to go just to see some of the classic landmarks. The song itself is about conformity, and how Hollywood makes an ideal we should live up to, whether it be body type or just the clothes and gadgets you have. We got a lot of flack for that song, and I think the only thing some people heard was the Sieg Heil at the end. The line "Theaters or Gas Chambers they all seem the same" is how Hollywood herds us into a big room and kills peoples creativity and individuality. The whole ending of the song with the Sieg Heil business was suppose to perk up some ears. If someone was offended, well... too bad, read over the lyrics again. Really, that song was my attempt to write a song like the U.S. Bombs.
(7) You're from the South, are you into old country music? Sorry for the stereotype, but it definitely comes across in your sound. Who do you recommend countrywise? I really like Wayne Hancock.
Don’t apologize, we meant to have a country feel to our songs. That is pretty much how I write songs. My top three country singers would be Hank Williams, Johnny Cash and George Jones. I also really love old rockabilly and old rock and roll. Johnny Burnette Trio, Joe Clay, Ronnie Dawson, Little Richard, Chuck Berry... 50’s rock and roll rules. You just can’t beat the simplicity of music, the recording, the feel. Man, I get excited just talking about it.
(8) Do you have any plans to hit the UK? If so, who would you ideally love to tour with?
Well, not at the moment. It is hard for us to tour the States, let alone
the other side of the world. Two of us have kids and that makes it doubly hard. I would love to tour the U.K., Germany, Mexico, Japan. Hey, that’s funny those are all the places we beat like a drum in several different wars, no hard feelings. Who to tour with? Man, that is a hard question to answer. My top 3, U.S. Bombs, Flatfoot 56, or Street Dogs. Yeah, those bands. We are buddies with the Flatfoot guys so that’s not a stretch, but the other 2, maybe someday.
(9) How is the punk scene by you? Any good bands we should check out that us folks in the UK may not have heard of please?
Well, funny you ask, our only true punk rock club just closed down about 2 weeks ago (Red Blood Club, R.I.P). We have a good scene, a lot of unity, a lot of friends. We are in a bind for a while but it will work itself out. As far as bands go, the two best bands in Dallas are the Broadsiders and the Wayward Boys. Most shows all three bands play together. We should maybe form a union "ya can’t book one with out the other two." I love the Dallas scene and I love Dallas.
(10) Have you ever seen a cat's penis?
Yes, I have, but it is not something I look for. Both my cats are fixed, so it does not show up too often. But thanks for asking.

Interview with Mark Ponkmedia
Mark runs ponkmedia who are are great punk label, he's well known for producing the classic GG album 'Carnivale of excess' which is a bonafide classic. Check out www.ponkmedia.com and
http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=166224050
Hey Mark! How's it going? Here are some questions for you...
(1) How come you decided to produce the 'Carnivale of excess' GG Allin album and how come it's just properly been released now?
I heard about GG a long time ago and then went to see the show he did at the Harbor Club with The Disappointments in 1989. Wow! I had seen a ton of punk/hardcore, but I had never seen anything like that. I got in touch with GG while he was in jail and we collaborated on a bunch of stuff together. I helped him with press releases etc., when he was locked up and we were working on a book together. I went and met up with him in Charlotte NC and did a photo shoot with him (and Antiseen, the photos that are on the Antiseen GG release titled "Murder Junkies’) and we chatted about a full length album that would be similar to the "Troubled Troubadour" ep, as I always thought that GG’s acoustic material was very, very good. We made some arrangements and as time rolled on, we kicked it up from just and acoustic project (even though we did some acoustic stuff, which will be on the COE DVD...out soon on Ponk and can also be seen in Hated, that is my footage where GG does the acoustic version of Carmelita) to a set of "country" recordings, because we both were on the same page in terms of that stuff. I put together some musicians, arranged a studio, got the plane tickets and funding together and had GG come and stay with me in Tampa Florida (which is where we recorded it) and the rest is history. I have a lot of fun stories from when he stayed with me and we consumed copious amounts of alcohol. We had a blast, but there were a few tense moments. You have to understand that this was not easy to do given that these recordings were unlike any other that GG had done before. Using pianos, accordions, female back-up singers etc., was not the "normal" path for a GG recording session. We had a few late night (and very drunken) conversations/arguments about the direction of things, but in the end, GG really liked it. At first he went ape shit when he saw the pianos and everything. It was a good thing that I was able to go shot for shot with him, if not, Carnival would have probably not happened. It was released in small numbers over the years, but I am finally in a position in my own life where things can be done/released properly. I am currently finishing the Carnival Of Excess DVD now. I have one more video to finish (Son Of Evil) but the rough cut is done. I want to get it out very soon.
(2) On the CD, it seems GG is really happy with the result. In fact, it's the first time I've ever heard he happy at all! What was he like to work with? Was he the real deal?
Yes, GG was very happy with the result. I have it on good authority that GG listened to Carnival non stop. I was told that typically he didn’t really listen to his own stuff, but he really was pleased with Carnival. You can hear his comments on Carnival Of Excess on the Ponk website (http://www.ponkmedia.com/ggallin.htm). My biggest regret is that I wasn’t able to get this out while he was here on earth. I can only comment on my work with GG, so some people my have had a different experience, but when we were in the studio, GG was a real pro. He knew what he wanted and how to execute. People regard him as just an asshole. Perhaps he was, but my work with GG (on several things) and my experiences with him were, for the most part, very good. When it came time to get down to business, GG was focused and hard working. Again, some may have had a different experience, but mine was different on several levels. I’ll never forget the six hour visit I had with him in Jackson prison in Michigan. GG was a lot smarter than people give him credit for. While some people may choose to exploit the "monster" side of GG, I always (and I told this to GG from the first time we worked together) was more focused on the artistic side of what he was doing. Sometimes the shock stuff can be contrived and boring. I’m glad that GG and I chose the direction that we did when making Carnival, as well as, the other projects we worked on. He was definitely the real deal.
(3) I checked your label website. What are you doing with the wrestler Abdullah the Butcher?Abdullah and I are planning on doing some audio recordings. The demos are done and I sent them to the Butcher last week. We are still in the planning phase, but we hope to record it in Boston sometime in early to mid September. If we can pull it off, it will be great. I am also working with Abdullah on a few other things as well. Time will tell on this one, but Abdullah and I are on the same page. I’m working my ass of to make this happen, but you never know with the Butcher. I have been an Abdullah The Butcher fan since I was very young. He is awesome!!
(4) You seem to specialize in music that is as far away from the mainstream as possible? What do you think defines true alternative bands?
I don’t go out of my way to do/find things that are not in the mainstream. It’s more like figuring out ways to work with artists who I have a lot of respect for and who I have been a fan of. What I do try to do, is create something with these folks that they may not have been able to do in the past (perhaps because of label contracts or whatever) but what they "always" wanted to try and do. GG doing a country project, Tiny Tim doing a big band project, etc. I don’t want to impose limitations based in fear that it may not sell or generate lots of money. I want to always put the art first and worry about the other shit later. Ponk (and the projects that I try and create) is/was established with the art and the artists in mind, first and foremost. It is not about being cool, or money or any of that other shit. That being said, I have no idea about what defines true alternative bands. All those tags and shit just gives me a headache.
(5) What sort of music do you listen to yourself? Do you listen to much punk at all?I love punk rock, always have always will. From the NY stuff, to the British stuff (R.I.P Joe Strummer!) to the hardcore stuff, I really do like it all. I don’t like all of the boundaries and classifications and labels. Music is music and each individual has the right to like or dislike anything they want. I don’t judge, it is not my place to do so. I listen to all kinds of stuff form The Fugs, Tom Waits, The Exploited, Can, Beach Boys, Black Flag, Shane Macgowan, The Stones, Roach Motel, Sun City Girls, Dropkick Murphys, The Residents, Lou Reed, Eno, Devo, The Nips, Johnny Cash, Big Boys, Jim Carroll, etc. I like songwriters and have a pretty wide selection of stuff I listen to. Limiting oneself to one particular "style" can really deprive one of a lot of good and interesting stuff, not just music, but a lot of things. Keeping an open mind, to me, is crucial.
(6) The 'Carnivale of excess' album is a true country classic. What inspired you guys when producing this? What sort of stuff were you listening to? For me, you've got it exactly right.
Well, as I mentioned, I really like the Troubled Troubadour ep and at the time I was listening to the Johnny Thunders acoustic album (which GG also liked) So we basically started there and worked our way up. When we were hanging out drinking in the days before the sessions, we listened to Patsy Cline, David Allen Coe, Johnny Cash, Hank Sr., Earnest Tubb, George Jones, Buddy Holly, Carl Perkins, etc., ya know...stuff like that. I’m glad that you like it.
(7) That band on your label 'Foul Existence' sounds like a messy mix of GWAR and my old band Laminator, how did you discover these guys? What's their story? I see they got banned from the venues in their home town, so did we!
Hahahahaha...Foul Existense was my band from back in the old school hardcore days in Florida. We were sick of all of the rednecks and we were all skaters and we were into punk rock (and much of the music I mentioned above) so we decided to start a band. Seems like every show was a disaster and ended up a mess. The cops hated us and seemed to always attend all of our shows. Many times the skate kids would rent generators and we would play on skate ramps in the woods. It was al hell of a lot of fun!! I split and moved to new York City and Scot Lade (Disorderly Conduct, Wedgepiece) took over on bass and then Foul actually sounded good as Scot is/was an amazing musician. We used to do a bunch of shows with Disorderly Conduct and go jam up a Casey’s house. Casey is now in Amen (he started that band a while back) and is still kicking serious ass. Scot is now in wedgepiece and they are one of my favorite new bands and are a big part of the Ponk family. Here is the Foul my space address if anyone gives a shit; http://www.myspace.com/foulexistense. I am planning on releasing the Foul Existense stuff soon as well. Also, look for a GG Allin/Casey Choas (and special guest) split 7" coming soon. I’m in talks with Casey now about putting out some of the older Disorderly Conduct stuff and I can’t be more excited about it.
(8) Are you into films at all? Can you recommend any underground bonafide classics? 'Society' is good!
Cool, I will check it out. Yes, I am very much into films of all kinds. I just watched Salvador Dali’s "Soft Self Portrait" again recently. I have not seen it in years and forgot how amazing it is. I enjoy all sorts of films. Just watched a great documentary on The MC5. Those guys were amazing!
(9) Are the 'Criminal quartet' still going? I think you'd really like Those Poor Bastards, have you heard them? By the way, Rachel Brooke is damn good!
No, the CQ is no longer, but their spirit still lives on. Those Poor Bastards are great!! I am looking forward to hearing "The Plague", but I have not gotten around to getting it yet. Rachel is awesome!! So is Junk! They are both a big part of the Ponk family as well. Both of them (together and separate) are way cool and I am thrilled to have them as part of this thing. From the second I heard them, I loved it!! I signed them on the spot!
(10) Have you ever seen a cat's penis?
I can’t recall specifically.
Thanks pal,
Gareth.

Thanks pal,
Gareth.
Interview with French Oi! band The Janitors
First of all The Janitors ain't you're average Oi! band, they play excellent tuneful glam/early punk/classic Oi! music and they'll probably give your fat mother a wide on. Singer Nico is a tip top chap and (for a Frenchie!) has a fantastic sense of humour. You can listen to their tunes here:
http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=63406379
Anywhere, here's the interview. Support The Janitors!
(1) Firstly, why the name 'The Janitors?' Are you qualified janitors? If so, why isn't my toilet clean?
We're named the Janitors because we want to clean the planet from people like you! Janitors because we have shitty crummy underpaid jobs. And yer toilet are this awfull by yer own fault, I told you not to take twice this dubious mexican food, but you can't help eating!
(2) I like your sound. For me, you've the vocals and music just right. Who are your influences?
Thanks a lot for nice comments! This interview starts quite well, you already have a janitors'free "boudoir backstage ticket", for next time we meet.Otherwise we obviously love british music. From late sixties to late 70's and eighties good oi! bands we take everything! Actually I listen too much mod music and 77 punk(the Chords, Vice Creem, the Donkeys, Lambrettas, the Circles, the Boys, Outcasts, No Sweat, Undertones, Radiators from Space, Rudi, F.U.2, the Rebels, the Kids, Eater, Menace...in fact everything you can find on powerpearls , back to front, bloodstains across..., killed by death compilations). I take everything from Chiswick Rec. (even the forbidden evil one!! Something with orange juice and vodka...you know huh?) and Raw Records. All rock'n'roll classics such as The Who, early Rolling Stones, the Kinks, the Animals, Slade, Count Bishops, Hollywood Brats...We also love good old reggae and ska, loads of tamla/motown soul and some rock'n'roll and r'n'b from the fifties (Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley the greatest! RIP). Some punk wave when we're feeling down and we cry that the world is so unfair(Warsaw, Joy Divison, Crisis, the Fall, Gang of Four...). We also love some hard balls rock'n'roll like Mötörhead or Rose Tattoo. We used to cover "Nice boys don't play rock'n'roll" into "Nice boys Don't play with their Knobs". At least we listen to some rockabilly, psychobilly, surf and garage bands. In fact We all used to (or still) run a radio show. We had free records from everywhere, that was a great deal.
(3) What's the Punk/Oi! scene like where you're from?
Quite dead. La Rochelle is a small town. You have some old skins, punks and mods but they only do Dj sets. There ain't many spots to play at and except us all rock'n'roll bands from La Rochelle are pure shite.
(4) There's a stereotype in Britain that French women don't shave under their arms, is this true? However, French women do have the hottest accents, true?
That's absolutely right, moreover French females don't wash at all and are very easy. They only eat oily frogs' legs while french males are wine-alcoholic and smell garlic and 10 years-old rotten cheese. We also like to kill snails in order to eat them and we abhore bloody Limeys and godamn fucking Yanks. We naturally all have a "baguette" under our arms and a lovely gay thin moustache at our birth. In every single french café you can hear some old-guy with a black beret playing accordion (it's a bit boring when you hang out in Paris, there are many cafés...). We also love to collaborate with the so-called enemy and denounce Jews because we have a great sense of hospitality. It's true that French women have an adorable accent. It's all matter of the tongue. Don't we say "French Kiss"? If you love the accent, you'd love the blowjobs!
(5) I get the impression you're an Anti-Racist band? Do you get much hassle from the seagull spotters (Nazis?) Is Fascism big in France?
I'm just thinking of Le Pen etc.
Well, I'm half gook, the guitar player is partly Jew and Italian, the drummer looks gay and the bass player has a fire crotch on his head. If we were racist or white power we'll have to exterminate ourselves. We had some problems with nationalist skins and neo nazis in the beggining, at our gigs. Now it's ok, they don't come anymore as our band looks like a bad United Colors of Benetton advertisement and some of those cunts got seriously screwed. Now we got problems with reds pretending we're a dubious band because we don't want to play for their sect and that we don't want to wank for the Party. They talk, scream and shout on the internet or fanzines but we never see them at our gigs. Go get yerselves a life, little red faggot rich boys! Well in fact we're a Don't-give-a-fuck-band and racism is bad as making out with underage boys is bad, necrophilia is almost bad and everything is bad and I will tell my mommy if you don't stop!!Le Pen in France is quite dead. He's too old and his daughter who wants to go on with the Nationalist Front looks like a shemale pig. It's not that glamourous, they don't give a good image of our nation, he shouldn't look so German and she should start to stop shaving her arms to look more French!Seriously, I think that Sarkozy is the new image of "soft-hidden-fascism". We tend to have more and more coppers around, workers'rights are being scoffed at each day by the leading class. The working-class and the lower-midlle class are getting poorer and poorer wih those complexless right-handed ultraliberal policies. Also, the immigration policies are very strict now. All because he looks like a dwarf and only got one bollock, he's so nasty! Small people are bad, we should beat the fuck out of them.
(6) What releases have you got out? Where can people buy your merchandise from?
We have one 7" called "Bloody Boredom" which is very boring. One split ep with Lutèce Borgia, a very bad french band from our label's boss and one Lp/Cd called "Work" because we are very skinhead and very working class haha. You can find our shits from us of course and from the label Une vie Pour Rien? (www. uvpr. fr)
(7) Have you/do you plan to play in the UK?
We would love to come over but we're afraid of ginger-headed persons. Anyway, organize us a show, it will be an honour (and pride of our glory) to play for you, bunch of oily fish and chips eaters! Well it's quite a dream for us but in a large part, brits don't give a toss about whatever comes from France, except football players.
(8) What does punk rock mean to you?
A big fat joke that anybody can do. A big "Fuck off!" to the World and a good way to make money in 77, too bad that we're more than 30 years late.
(9) What's French for 'The Cat's Penis' please? I'm a Eurocentric type chap.
Haha...Cat's Penis means "Bite de Chat", it's a lovely typical chinese dish! And you're right to be Eurocentric, If you don't get sometimes out of yer island and don't mix your blood, yer children will soon call their mama "auntie"!
(10) Do The Janitors have a message for us Brits?
Joan of Arc was innocent, she was just under drugs and never had sex. Is it the way you treat problem teenager? Burning them down to ashes?? You didn't have a great sense of humour at that time! We love yer music, style, attitude but there are way too many ginger-head lads down in yer country, we can't trust a people with so many degenerates in it! Good luck for "Engerrrland" at the Euro...oh well...I forgot once more haha...How the fuck can you invent such a perfect game and don't even know how to play it??Down the hatch, limeys! Fanx for the interview,Gareth, and long live the Cat's Penis!

The Cat's Penis editorial
Hello! Welcome to a one off blog issue of 'The Cat's Penis'. There hasn't been one in a while because I've been moving about a bit and I'm also very very lazy. Due to randomly getting a boring and tiring job, I haven't got enough time to put this on paper. Anyway, this is pretty much a one off issue as I'm going back to University in August to be a Postgraduate Coldplay loving, coffee drinking bastard who shops at Aldi. At the moment I'm living at home in Hereford, which is feckin' horrendous. NOTHING HAPPENS! Also, it's gotta be the whitest town in the history of the world. The narrow mindedness here, pisses me off no end. The good news is that my beloved Hereford United FC are going to be starting the new season in League One next season! We'll be playing against Leeds, Leicester and uhh...Cheltenham in league fixtures, woohoo!
Anyway, that's enough of that talk. I'd like to thank everyone involved in the making of this issue, without you guys, I'd no drive to keep churning out this filth. I'd like to thank all the bands featured and all the support I've received, many thanks to: Russ, Emily Dickerson, Trev Hagl, Viz, Toby Chelms, I believe in myself fanzine, all the bands featured, Andy Cactus, Alex Babeliss, dark humour and all the good TV shows (there ain't many of them!)
As for what I'm listening to at the moment (if anyone bastard well cares) it's:
(1) GG Allin and the Criminal Quartet - Carnivale of Excess
(2) Evil Conduct - King of Kings
(3) Hank Williams Junior - That's how they do it in Dixie
(4) David Allan Coe - The essential collection
(5) Chris Murray - One everything
Tv serieswise check out the following...
The Wire (best TV series EVER!)
The Sopranos (absolute genius)
Curb your enthusiasm (keep getting funnier)
Carnivale (brilliantly written and filmed)
Brass Eye (can't beat this series, they really fucked off The Daily Mail too!)
Speaking of the Daily Mail, I don't think it can get any shitter. My parents buy it EVERY FUCKING DAY! Well, everyone in Herefordshire seems to treat it as their bible. Anyway, I was reading it yesterday (I was really really bored) and they were on about how employers are discriminating against white people in favour of black people and women. Anyway, I read the article and there were no statistics or facts in the bloody article! Now, a lot of people in Herefordshire probably just read the headline and take it as the absolute truth as I hear these types of airheaded comments quite a lot round here. There really is no hope. JESUS WEPT! Keep looking for the alternative, always stay one step ahead AND always hate your boss!
